What to Expect

Healing the Whole Family Together

Families are complex systems — and when one part struggles, the whole family feels it. Whether you're dealing with persistent conflict, communication breakdowns, the aftermath of a major life change, or patterns that have been passed down through generations, family counseling with Ann provides a structured, compassionate environment to work through it together.

Drawing on her own experience raising 13 children and navigating the full spectrum of family challenges, Ann brings both professional expertise and genuine empathy to her work with families. Her approach is practical, faith-informed, and focused on building lasting change — not just managing symptoms.

Common Questions

About Family Counseling

Who should attend family counseling sessions?

It depends on the family's situation and goals. Sometimes all family members attend together; other times Ann may meet with subgroups (parents only, siblings, etc.) or rotate participants. She'll discuss the best structure during the free consultation.

Can family counseling help with blended family challenges?

Yes — blended family dynamics are one of Ann's areas of focus. Navigating step-parent relationships, loyalty conflicts, and different household rules requires specialized support, and Ann brings both professional training and personal experience to this work.

What if family members don't want to come?

It's common for some family members to be resistant at first. Ann can work with whoever is willing to engage, and often progress with one part of the family system creates positive ripple effects for the whole family.

How is family counseling different from individual or couples counseling?

Family counseling focuses on the relationships and dynamics between family members as a system, rather than on one individual or one relationship. It looks at patterns, roles, and communication styles that affect the whole family unit.
