What Can Crisis to Comfort Offer You?

Crisis to Comfort Offers You Compassionate Christian Counseling Rooted in Real-Life Experience

Ann McGaver, M.A., BCMHC

My name is Ann, and I serve as a counselor/coach at Crisis to Comfort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where I am committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s most complex seasons. I provide mental health counseling and coaching grounded in education, experience, and a respect for the uniqueness of each person’s story.

My work is also built upon lived experience. I have navigated many hardships such as personal losses, trauma, divorce, financial hardships, physical and emotional suffering, to name a few. These experiences did not define me, but they shaped my capacity for empathy, resilience, and insight. They also anchor my conviction that meaningful healing and restoration are attainable.

Now I walk alongside clients facing anxiety, emotional distress, trauma, relational challenges, and life transitions, helping them cultivate clarity, emotional regulation, and lasting personal growth. My calling is to guide others toward healing and wholeness.

SYMBIS Assessment (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts)

YES! Premarital counseling is a vital step in preparing couples for a strong and healthy marriage, and Crisis to Comfort is a firm believer that seeking counseling before marriage can prevent future conflict and strengthen lifelong commitment. Scripture teaches that wisdom and guidance lead to stability: “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed” (Proverbs 20:18). Through premarital counseling, couples are able to address concerns early, grow in understanding, and build a marriage rooted in faith, communication, and trust—moving from uncertainty toward peace and confidence.

-Encourages wise preparation and biblical counsel (Proverbs 15:22)

-Helps couples navigate conflict with grace and understanding (James 1:19)

-Strengthens emotional and spiritual unity (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12)

-Provides comfort, clarity, and direction during engagement (Proverbs 3:5–6)

-Builds a Christ-centered foundation for a lasting marriage (Matthew 7:24–25)

FAQS

1. What is Crisis to Comfort Counseling/Coaching?

Crisis to Comfort Counseling/Coaching is a faith-integrated approach that helps individuals move from emotional distress toward peace, healing, and hope. I support clients through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, burnout, spiritual struggles, and decision-making—while helping them develop healthy coping skills, emotional resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.

2. How does faith-based counseling differ from traditional counseling?

Faith-based counseling/coaching integrates Christian beliefs, prayer (when desired), and Scripture alongside evidence-based counseling/coaching practices. The focus is on renewing the mind, inviting God into the healing process, and supporting emotional and spiritual well-being.

3. Do I have to be a Christian to receive counseling?

No. Clients from all backgrounds are welcome. Faith is incorporated respectfully and at your comfort level. Counseling/coaching is always client-centered, compassionate, and supportive, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey.

4. What types of issues do you help with?

Crisis to Comfort Counseling/Coaching supports individuals dealing with:

Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
Grief and loss
Depression and hopelessness
Life transitions
Relationship challenges
Spiritual struggles or burnout
Trauma and stress-related concerns

5. How does renewing the mind help with emotional healing?

Renewing the mind is a sacred process of recognizing thought patterns that no longer serve us and surrendering them to God, allowing His truth to replace fear, lies, and discouragement with hope, clarity, and peace. As we invite the Lord into our thoughts, emotions, and decision-making, He brings healing that reaches beyond behavior and into the heart.

Scripture reminds us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). When God is welcomed into this process, transformation becomes deeper and more enduring—anchored in His promises rather than our circumstances. Through prayer, biblical truth, and intentional reflection, the mind is renewed, faith is strengthened, and lives are aligned with God’s purpose and the lasting peace He offers.

6. Is Crisis to Comfort counseling/coaching confidential?

Yes, sessions are confidential and conducted in a safe, respectful environment, with limits only as required bylaw to protect safety.
